Mike is always willing to help someone in need. If asking Mike to DJ, MC or simply help for free at a
legitimate charity event (the people in charge and other entertainment don't get paid),
Mike would be glad to help sundays through thursdays. For fridays and saturdays Mike's usual
rates will apply, no discounts. For generic fundraisers, Mike's services are not free. To see if Mike is

Why no discounts on Fridays / Saturdays?
Thank your U.S. Senators & Representatives, because the I.R.S. states that
self employed Mobile DJs donating their time are NOT allowed a tax deduction for the
donation of their time. Mike is self employed and to take time off from his friday
& saturday DJ jobs could amount to losing a week's pay. Being a full-time DJ is how Mike makes his living, he doesn't have another job and DJs make most of their money on the weekends.
» Here is a tip when asking about DJs for friday & saturday charity events. Check with the larger DJ companies that have many DJs working for them. These multiple system companies might be able to spare a DJ for a charity event and at a very low rate, maybe for free. This is because a company can usually receive a tax deduction for the time donated by their DJs or financially benefit from additional bookings using these type of goodwill gestures. One other tip ... January and February are the months that many DJs have available
fri/sat nights and can give you the lowest rates.
Mike is a single system, full-time, insured, self-employed mobile DJ who makes his DJ service exclusively available to one customer per day. He is not allowed a tax deduction for any donation of his time even though donating his time usually results in lost wages.
