Mike is a mobile DJ and music personality based in Metro Detroit who owns an amazing music collection including local music. Though he does not currently offer karaoke, he is proud to support all aspects of the music biz. Because information regarding karaoke entertainment in Michigan is hard to find, he created this page for those who like to sing, good singers and wannabe singers.

Ferndale Idol 2008 - started in January, held every Sunday at AJ's Music Cafe in Ferndale (just north of Detroit) ph# 248-399-3946.

Now to May 25, 2008: Battle of The Voices - in Portage, MI. Hosted by Extreme Karaoke, Prelims 4 times each week until May 18th every Tue and Sun at Long Lake Tavern in Portage and every Thur and Sat at Bud's in Schoolcraft. Finals will be held Sunday May 25 at Long Lake Tavern in Portage. Grand Prize is 16 hours in a professional recording studio in Tennessee with 2 nights accommodations, and an on air interview and song play with Y96.5. Second place is a Mission Point Resort Getaway to Mackinac Island and Third place is a $300 spa package at Studio 24.

May 2nd to June 27, 2008: Talent Quest 2008 National Karaoke Singing Contest - Local - at Randy's Grand Slam in Champion (Humbolt location), MI. Every weekend during this time, weekly winners, Finals on June 26th and 27th. $3 cover charge goes to the March of Dimes, plus a $5 entry fee for each category entered per contestant. prizes.

June 14, 2008 (Finals): Cruisin' Gratiot Idol Contest - held in Eastpointe (north of Detroit).
3rd annual Cruisin' Gratiot Idol open auditions are in full swing! Every Tuesday (Adult Division) and Saturday (Youth Divisions) at the Cloverleaf Restaurant in Eastpointe. The first 25 contestants to register have a shot at the Semi-Final Competitions during Cruise Week and the Finals on Cruise Day. Open Auditions will continue until the week of May 24th. Adult Division First Prize: $2,000 Cash. Youth Divisions First Prizes: $600 and $400 Cash.

June 14-15, 2008: Annual Strawberry Idol Contest in Belleville (west of Detroit).
singers of all ages. Junior Division ages 12 and under, Teen Division ages 13-19, Adults ages 20 and over. Registration and entry fee are required. part of the National Strawberry Festival in Belleville, MI.

June 23, 2008: Super Singer Finals - Metro Detroit
Annual contest for good singers, auditions May 2nd & 3rd. Competition finalists perform live on the Local 4 (WDIV TV) broadcast of the Detroit Fireworks.

July 23-26, 2008: Ionia Idol Competition 2008 - in Ionia (Mid/Western Michigan).
4th Annual. contest is part of the Ionia Free Fair Festival. Application and $20 application fee must be postmarked by June 16th [Idol Info, Rules & Entry Form]. Grand Total of $2,500 in prize money, 1st Place is $1,500.

August 22 - September 1, 2008: Michigan State Fair Karaoke Contest and Talent Showcase
in north Detroit. specific date for karaoke contest to be announced.

October 3, 2008: Scarecrow Idol in Trenton (south of Detroit)
part of the annual Trenton Scarecrow Festival.

NATIONAL SINGING COMPETITIONS

Karaoke World Series 2008 - international karaoke competition that starts in January with Qualifying rounds at local Clubs - 10 Week Contest, then Sectionals in April, Regionals in May, Nationals in June. Finals in Orlando, Florida. Top Prize is $5,000.

Spring 2008: U.S.A. World Showcase - Unsigned Artists Talent and Singing Competition. Competitors perform in front of a live audience on the USA main stage in Las Vegas.
