How far in advance do you need to book Mike?
It is impossible to say. Someone might have just booked your event date while you were reading this or it could remain available right up to that day. That means there is no definitive way to answer that question. Therefore, Mike's booking policy.
Mike's Booking Policy:
It's "the first person to supply a deposit, books him" policy which is fair to everyone. Mike does not use the marketing gimmick of saying that you better book now because many people looking at your date. Even when it is true, it still sounds like a tacky high pressure sales pitch and Mike is not a high pressure guy.
General Advice: as soon as possible after you have decided to hire Mike, take a look at his posted schedule. If he is still available, use the Check Availability box on that page for first contact. If you have previously used that, then simply send an e-mail or call him and state that you have the deposit ready and want to book him.

There are three other ways to get in touch with Mike.
Below is Mike's order of preference but use whichever is best for you.
1) Send an e-mail to Mike with event date, type of event, name of place where event will be held, city it's located in, type of music desired, etc.

2) Call. Be prepared to give event date, city the event is in, type of event, music desired, etc. If calling and having to leave a message, clearly state your name & phone number with area code - twice. Why twice? Sometimes cell phones cut out and Mike only hears parts of messages. Sometimes when giving a phone number to return their call, people forget to give their area code, talk too soft or too fast. Hearing only parts of phone numbers prevents Mike from calling back. Saying it twice usually avoids this problem.
