Detroit Rocks site Ripped Off My Bands Musicians Info
March 12, 2010
Detroit Rocks website Copied then Published - WITHOUT PERMISSION - my Bands Musicians Listings to their website making people think it's their own listings. They didn't even bother changing the wording I use or my unique format for presenting band and musician info!
I spent years on that list. They did a copy & paste. Years versus minutes. They owe me.
They copied my published info word for word, plus font style and formatting, everything.
If a musician owns that site, would that musician want one of their popular songs copied exactly from the original then marketed under another name so that someone else gets the credit and recognition? Do musicians condone ripping off other peoples hard work?
If you have been to that site and checked out its Bands page, remember this: you are looking at my MICHIGAN BANDS MUSICIANS page. Bands links, descriptions, and format on their site are MINE, NOT Theirs. Those lazy bastards STOLE ALL OF IT from me. Link to my Bands Musicians page is at the top of this page.
Avoid Going To Detroit Rocks website
Why? It's a social network site that stole music content from my website, put it on their site to pretend it's theirs to get more visitors. Then visitors have to supply their name, e-mail address, birth date and who knows what else to use the site. Does that sound legit to you? Does that make you think of spammers and mass-marketers?
Think I'm wrong? Get this... You are not allowed to contact the person in charge of the site, or anyone else, to ask questions till after you supply your personal info and agree to allow your personal info to be used by third parties. That's stated in their privacy policy.
All that brings us to this page. After I found my content on their site, I tried to contact them so this problem could get worked out. Maybe someone made a mistake - intentional or not - and there would be no problem straightening things out. Mistakes happen, misunderstandings get cleared up. We're talking about Detroit Music and Michigan Bands. Good stuff, not the type of thing you make a big deal about, until...
I found out I'm not allowed to contact them till I first joined the site and give my private info to strangers and third parties! That's not going to happen. But you get to know...
They blatantly ripped me off. And no, they didn't mention my name or reference my site. Detroit Rocks lowlifes have to steal from others just put stuff on their website. How pathetic is that?
Detroit Rocks detroitrocks.ning.com stole years of my hard work by publishing most of my page to their site without my knowledge or consent. Do you have any idea how long it took to compile, check for accuracy, add, remove, update all those bands listings?
Funny thing, if they had asked in advance and be willing to put a credit at the top of their Bands page such as "The Following List of Bands Links and Descriptions came from the Website of Madman Mike Your Musical Slave and he is allowing us to place this copy of his list on our site" - with a link to my page, I might have given them permission.
But did they ask? NO. After I found out they stole my info, could I contact them to rectify the situation? NO. Do I want my list off their site? YES.
How much content have they stolen from other sites?
What else are they going steal from my site?
How can people join a site that is known for stealing people's information?
Since Detroit Rocks is stealing information, what do you think they will do with your personal sign up info and other info you might supply?
If Detroit Rocks removes the Bands list they stole from me, I will remove this page.
