"We have something for everyone—Mid-America rides, talent show, arts and crafts, flea market, two parades, petting zoo, princess pageant, various displays, games, free entertainment and arm wrestling. Our syrup producers are located throughout the village selling syrup, candies, crème and the ever popular maple syrup cotton candy." Held annually on the last full weekend in April.
April 25, 2010 (sun): Lakeshore Blessing of the Bikes - Annual in Holland (West MI) at Ottawa County Fairgrounds. A gathering to start the riding season with a Blessing for a safe year, to promote a sense of community and fellowship among riders and to support local charities. Hundreds of motorcyclists and non-motorcyclists participate in the blessing. Live music, food and motorcycles of every color, size, shape, and brand make this event interesting for all attendees. Donation $5 per bike/vehicle.

May 7-9, 2010 (fri-sun): Mesick Mushroom Festival - 51st Annual - in Mesick (northwest MI, south of Traverse City). Mesick, MI is the mushroom capital in the United States. May 13-16, 2010: 1st Annual North of 45 Retreat for Writers - This event features an all inclusive weekend retreat in Curtis at Chamberlin's Ole Forest Inn. The amazing staff includes novelist Steve Amick, creative writing professor Shelley St. Ange-Sheldon, songwriter and playwright Amy Speace, children's author Jeff Schatzer and freelance writer and North of 45 director Ann Rowland. Artists of all ages are invited to display their creativity using chalk. Youth are encouraged to let loose and create! In addition to individual artists, families and businesses are invited to enter as teams. Prizes awarded for top artists in adult categories. There will also be a special "wellness" category. Even if not an artist, bring the whole family, walk, view and experience chalk art at your feet. The WMCAF is sponsored by Byron Community Wellness Foundation a not profit corporation. July 17, 2010 (sat): South Macomb BBQ Cook Off & Made in Michigan Festival - in Roseville. 1st Annual. Event is Free to attend and Free to watch. Come out and cheer on your favorite "Pit-Master" in the Restaurant & Backyard Categories. Cooking starts at 7am, Judging will start at 5pm and he Awards will be given out at 6:30pm for the title of "Best BBQ Ribs & Chicken" in South Macomb County. If you would like to join in the cook off contest there is a $250 entry fee for the "Professional Restaurant Category" with a $500 1st place cash prize and $250 for 2nd place. It is only $100 to enter into the "Amateur Backyard Category" for a 1st place cash prize of $200 and $100 for 2nd place. While you’re here you can shop for "Made in Michigan" products. Some United Street Machine Association members will display some of their Best Show Cars in our parking lot with a Free Car show! September 17-18, 2010 (fri-sat): Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag Races (PSMCDR) in Stanton (middle lower peninsula). Annual event "for stock muscle cars that have few modifications, like when they rolled off the assembly line. This two-day race is held at the Mid-Michigan Motorplex drag strip. On the first day, drivers have nearly unlimited track time to test and tune their cars. There's a friendly, fun atmosphere here. Come race your car or enjoy watching the great matches."

Also a large beer tent featuring varieties of Erdinger Beer as well as other German beers and wines, authentic German food, hot dogs and root beer for the kids, great German bands, and our own Edelweiss Club and Sailors Ahoy choirs. October 24, 2009 (sat): Oktoberfest - at the Germania Club in Brownstown (south of Detroit), 23156 King Road (just east of Telegraph), 734-479-4278. Authentic German food and beer, kids activities and fun for all ages.
TBA 2010 (sat): Lake Orion Pumpkin Launch - at Orion Oaks Park, 2nd annual in 2009. Pumpkins and other things get flung hundreds of feet! Anyone can compete with their own home built trebuchets launcher, machines can be any size. After measured launches, spectators can see machines up close, then there is an open launch when teams can launch anything anytime. 11am-3pm, event has free admission for the public but $5 per-car parking at the park.
