January 4-6, 2008: 27th Annual Cycle World International Motorcycle Show in Novi.

January 19-20, 2008: Kalkaska Winterfest in Kalkaska (northwest lower peninsula, near Traverse City). "Enjoy watching sled dog races (all ages and various number of dogs in the teams pulling the sleds and mushers from all over the country), weight-pull contests between dogs of all breeds and sizes, chili cook-off, silent auction, vendors, craft show, pancake breakfasts, lunches, antique snowmobile display, campfire, horse drawn rides, jazz band, children's games, more."

February 1-3, 2008: Village of Rochester Hills Ice Sculpting Festival - 5th Annual (north of Detroit). Features world-class ice carving professionals with nearly 25 entertaining, and artistic ice sculptures in the streets and parks.

February 2008: The Dirty Show (8) in Detroit. must be 18+ to attend event & enter website.

March 6-16, 2008: Spring 2008 North American Bridge Championships in Downtown Detroit at the RenCen (the Marriott at the Renaissance Center). Card players are ACBL Members.

March 15-17, 2008: Attempt To Set A Record for the LONGEST "DANNY BOY" MARATHON
Hoping to get into the Guiness Book of World Records, event will be held at AJ's Music Cafe on 9 Mile in Ferndale (just north of Detroit). YOU can perform a five minute slot in the marathon by signing up at AJ's in person or by using form on their website. You will be amazed and impressed by who has already signed up to perform!

March 16, 2008: 50th ANNUAL - 2008 St. Patrick's Parade in Detroit - route is along Michigan Avenue in the area known as Corktown.

March 28-30, 2008: 8th Annual Michigan Regional Sportsmen Show in Alpena (northeast side of lower peninsula). "Largest Sportsmen Show in Northern Michigan", hunting and fishing show. Sponsored by the Alpena Knights of Columbus #529, money raised with this event is for charity.

[March 28, 2009]: Stars for Charity Expo Battle of Detroit World Martial Arts Open Championship in Dearborn (Metro Detroit). held every two years. benefits Z.I.A.D. - Healthcare for the underserved. From now until June 2008, competitors, spectators, sponsors and vendors may pre-register for the 2009 event at 2007 rates.

April 4-5, 2008: Detroit Fringe Festival in Detroit at Music Hall Center for Performing Arts located at 350 Madsion Ave, Detroit, MI 48226. TICKETS ARE $35. An astounding array of artists, performers and subcultural experimenters, who for thirty-two straight hours will rattle the cages of convention in music, dance and art as they blur the boundaries of the artistic status quo - all under one roof.

April 23-27, 2008: National Trout Festival - 72nd Year in Kalkaska (northwest lower peninsula). in 2007: fishing contest, parade, carnival, golf outings, car show, entertainment and fireworks.

April 25-27, 2008: Chef's Challenge [Chef's Challenge for Challenge Mountain] at the Shanty Creek Resort in Bellaire (northwest lower peninsula). Chefs in Michigan compete for Bragging Rights & Notoriety. This is a professional chef, hot food competition and tasting featuring Michigan food products, wines and microbrews. In addition to the Chef’s Challenge competition, the weekend will feature cooking seminars and demonstrations, golf, fishing, kayaking, an ice-carving competition, vendors showcasing Michigan agriculture (second only to California in number of diverse food products), more. Challenge Mountain is the nation's only non-profit organization that provides adaptive recreation exclusive to the developmentally challenged, helping them achieve their maximum potential through outdoor theraputic recreation.

April 25-27, 2008: Vermontville Maple Syrup Festival in Vermontville (west of Lansing). Annual event. parade, Queen and Court, maple syrup making demonstrations, arts and crafts, antique cars, blacksmith demonstrations, woodworking demonstrations, BBQ chicken, more.

May 1-4, 2008 (thu-sun): Michigan International Women's Show in Novi (northwest of Detroit). At Rock Financial Showplace located on Grand River Avenue between Novi Rd and Beck Rd.

May 9-11, 2008 (fri-sun): Mesick Mushroom Festival - 48th Annual in Mesick (a little south of Traverse City). grand parade, carnival, contests for mushroom hunters, antique car show, crafts and hobbies, flea market, horseshoe toss, horse pull, beer tent, 5 K walk/run, more.

May 24, 2008 (sat): Petoskey Stone Festival in Eastport, Antrim County (northwestern MI). 10am-4pm, Free admission. Celebrating Michigan's state stone. Beach hunt for stone treasures, stone skipping contest, gemstone vendors, local foods and music, more.

May 31, 2008 (sat): Soberfest at Riverside Park in Ypsilanti. FREE Admission, live bands, noon till 8pm, bring your own lawn chairs and blankets. Annual event celebrates recovery from addiction and the positive changes that recovery makes with a day of alcohol and drug-free family fun.

June 7, 2008 (sat): 2nd annual Ionia Classic Car and Truck Show in Ionia (Mid/Western MI, northwest of Lansing). A day of Music, Food and Fun for the whole family.Show times are 9:00am to 3:00pm, registration 8:00am to 10:00pm, $10.00 registration fee per car with goodie bags and dash plaques to the first 100 cars. June 13-15, 2008 (fri-sun): Annual National Asparagus Festival (NAF) in Hart (West Michigan). Some of the annual events include: Arts & Crafts Fair, "Spear-it" 5K Run/Walk, Children's Parade and activities, Joe Foster Golf Open, The Joan Glover Royale Parade, Asparagus Food Show.

June 13-15, 2008 (fri-sun): Michigan Kitefest in Richland (West Michigan, near Kalamazoo). annual kite flying event and competition.

June 14, 2008 (sat): 8th Annual Andy Ross Charity Motorcycle Ride in Trenton (south of Detroit). Sponsored by Trenton Firefighters Charities. Nearly 1,000 motorcycles show up to have a good time and support a good cause. The Ride starts at noon at Elizabeth Park in Trenton, has a police escort, and a halfway stop at Milan Dragway. The return ride comes back through several of the scenic Huron Metroparks. After Party is at Slip Mahoney's on Fort St in Riverview. Registration fee is $30 per rider/$55 with passenger before May 24th, afterward it is $40/$65. Entry forms can be downloaded from our website or by calling 734-692-4169.

June 14-15, 2008 (sat-sun): Art in the Park in Taylor (Metro Detroit). annual event held at Heritage Park, 12111 Pardee Road, in Taylor. Attractions will include an outdoor art fair, art gallery, student art gallery, children's talent competition, live entertainment, food and much more.

June 20-22, 2008 (fri-sun): Opa! Fest - 14th Annual in Troy (north of Detroit). "Metro Detroit area's largest ongoing celebration of Greek culture. Enjoy traditional Greek food, music and dancing, cooking demonstrations and cultural exhibits." Kids area has rides and activities.

June 25-29, 2008 (wed-sun): 44th Bay-Rama Fishfly Festival in New Baltimore (north of Detroit). Annual event includes a parade, fireworks, Bay-Rama Queen and Court, talent show, live music, eating contests and much more.

June 27-29, 2008 (fri-sun): 6th Annual Eaton Rapids Dam Festival in Eaton Rapids (south of Lansing). Free Admission. Enjoy good food and ice cream at the old fashioned soda fountain inside the Ice Cream Factory. Dam Tours, Car Show, 5K Run & Bridge Walk, Arts and Craft Show, Childrens Games, and a Lumberjack Show will be included. Rare Earth will be the musical entertainment on Saturday night.

TBA 2008: Annual Rattle Can Rodders Benefit Car Show in Coldwater (southern MI). This is a no-alcohol event.

July 9-12, 2008: Wyandotte's 47th Annual Street Art Fair in Wyandotte (just south of Detroit). 350 artist booths, DIA Creative Drop-In Workshop, Riverfront & Street Entertainment, food, Children's Activity Areas, Beautiful Baby Contest, more.

July 11-13, 2008: Festival of India 2008 in Downtown Detroit at Hart Plaza. FREE ADMISSION. Miss India Michigan Pageant, Mr. India Michigan Competition, music competitions, concert and extravaganza, fashion show, more.

July 11-13, 2008: 2008 Trenton Mid-Summer Festival in Trenton (south of Detroit). Join over 150,000 visitors, over 200 artists and craftsmen, for our 32nd year on West Jefferson in the Riverfront Business District.

July 12, 2008 (sat): Thumbs-Up Classic Car Show in Port Sanilac at Lake Huron Campground. We have camping (Cabins and tent sites), mini-golf, a sandy beach, a heated swimming pool, a playground, an arcade, an excellent DJ and lots of junk food!

July 19-20, 2008: Arab and Chaldean Festival in Detroit at Hart Plaza. 37th Annual. Festival serves as a multicultural program for people of all cultures to enjoy. Music, art gallery, fashion show, children's fair, middle eastern food.

July 25-27, 2008: St. Clair Riverfest at and on the St. Clair River (north of Detroit). FREE admission. offshore boats, offshore boat race, nationally known music acts, children's zone with full carnival, more.

July 25-27, 2008: Yale Bologna Festival in Yale (located in Michigan's thumb). 20th Annual festival includes parade, crowning of the King and Queen Bologna, street dance, live music, festival idol contest, fireworks, outhouse races, cardboard boat races, canoe races, bologna ring toss, lots more. Fried Bologna Sandwiches, Bologna Hotdogs and Bologna will be available.

TBA 2008: Lebfest - First annual Lebanese Festival at Shain Park in Birmingham (just north of Detroit).

August 1-3, 2008: 31st Annual Bay Port Fish Sandwich Festival in Bay Port (located in Michigan's thumb). Fish sandwiches and dinners, fireworks, classic car show, crafters, Rising Star competition, petting zoo, bingo, more.

August 3, 2008: Meadow Brook Concours d'Elegance 2008 in Rochester. "Held on the grounds of automotive royalty, the Meadow Brook Concours d'Elegance represents a total embodiment of the sophistication, grace, and opulent lifestyle that surrounded the classic automobiles on display at our events. Our concours is by no means just a car show - it is an entire week of events that celebrate the lifestyle and legacy of our automotive heritage."

August 8-17, 2008: Cheeseburger in Caseville - 10th Annual (Caseville is in Michigan's thumb). City is "transformed into Key North for this 10 days festival that celebrates the lifestyle and music made popular by Jimmy Buffett. Adults and kids alike will enjoy the music of over a dozen performers and bands as well as the opportunity to discover a variety of cheeseburgers and other great food". Beach Party, Fireworks, Golfing Under the Stars, Beautiful Baby Contest, Harbor & Campground Lights Display, more. This event also features a rather unusual parade: The Parade of Tropical Fools.

August 15-17, 2008: Paul Bunyan Festival - 12th Annual in Oscoda (east/northeast MI). Great Lakes Chainsaw Carving Championships, where chainsaw carvers from around the country turn 8 ft logs into intrical detailed scultures (sold at auction) Antique-Classic Car & Truck Show, Climbing Rock Wall, and a Greased pole climb for CASH!! Food, games, live bands, more.

August 15-17 2008: 49th Howell Melon Festival in Howell (east of Lansing). Parade, Festival Prince & Princess, entertainment, karaoke, car show, ice cream eating contest, more.

August 22-24, 2008: Detroit Festival of Speed and Style in Downtown Detroit. Special celebration of GM's 100th Anniversary - the past, present and future. Speed and Style Car Display, GALA Charity Reception, Driving tour, GM and Motown Dancing in the Streets Concert.

TBA 2008: Joomla! Ukrainian Sunflower Festival (Ukrainian Culture Festival) in Warren (just north of Detroit). Usually held annually, but skipped 2007.

TBA 2008: Hamtramck Festival (Hamtramck Labor Day Festival) in Hamtramck (within Detroit). 27th season in 2007. Food, kid's area, local music, more.

September 5-7, 2008 (fri-sun): Art & Apples Festival - 43rd in Rochester, MI at the 30-acre Municipal Park. Juried Art Fair of fine arts and crafts features a grand award of $1,500. It also has a variety of food, live entertainment, free children's art activities. Over 100,000 attend this annual three day fundraiser for the non-profit art center: Paint Creek Center for the Arts.

September 5-7, 2008 (fri-sun): Annual Plymouth Community Fall Festival in Plymouth.

September 7, 2008 (sun): Dawn Farm's Anniversay Jamboree in Ypsilanti. 1pm - 6pm. 34th Dawn Farm Jamboree is an annual family event with free admission and free activities for all ages, including live music all day by a popular local band, hayrides, animals to pet, pony rides, a popular midway and other activities for children, tours of the 74 acre farm, and live and silent auctions with a variety of great bargains. Funds raised from this event help defray treatment costs for individuals who have no other resources. Dawn Farm welcomes the entire community to join us and share our celebration of success in helping addicts and alcoholics.

September 12-13, 2008 (fri-sat): Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag Races (PSMCDR) in Stanton (middle lower peninsula). Annual event "for stock muscle cars that have few modifications, like when they rolled off the assembly line. This two-day race is held at the Mid-Michigan Motorplex drag strip. On the first day, drivers have nearly unlimited track time to test and tune their cars. There's a friendly, fun atmosphere here. Come race your car or enjoy watching the great matches."

September 20-21, 2008 (sat-sun): Streak on the Creek 2008 at Stony Creek Metro Park (north of Detroit). Inboard Hydroplane Racing, live bands, more.

TBA 2008: Annual Hamburg Historical & Railroad Days in the Village of Hamburg (west of Detroit). Excursion Train Rides ($10), car show, art & craft show, quilt show, ice cream social, silent auction, kids activities, games, Historical Museum & Tea Room. All proceeds support the Hamburg Historical Museum.

TBA 2008: Rods & Bobbers (Vassar Bike Rally) - Annual Motorcycle Rally & Rat Rod Reunion at the Vassar Memorial Park Fairgrounds, 1007 N. Cass Ave, Vassar, MI (north of Flint). Proceeds go to fund Vassar Fairgrounds renovation and improvements. Bike Show with trophies for 6 catagories, Biker Rodeo, Stunt Bike Show, Vendors Swap Meet, Drive-In Movie, DJ, more. Free Admission and Free Rustic Camping (no hookups).

TBA 2008: March of Dimes RIDE in Southwest Michigan. motorcycle.

October 4, 2008 (sat): The Red Flannel Festival in Cedar Springs (West MI, just north of Grand Rapids). 69th Annual. 2007 included selecting a Red Flannel Queen, Prince and Princess; a grand parade, Keystone Cops, bed race, street rod car show, antique tractor pull, arts and crafts fair, live entertainment, food and more. Festival is held each year on the First Saturday of October.

TBA 2008: Romanian Festival of Greater Detroit (RomFest) in Southfield (just north of Detroit). 3rd Annual, held at St George Romanian Orthodox Cathedral on 9 Mile. "Gradina" cafe, museum display with costumes of some of Romania's provinces and villages, Live Orchestras, Vocalists, DJs, Dance Ensembles, imported beer & wines, food, kids games, tours of the Cathedral interior, more. Open to the public, Admission $5 Adult, $3 Child (6-12yrs), Under 6yrs Free.

2008?: Detroit's Hot 1000 (2007) - choosing and judging "the top 1,000 of the Hottest Most Influential people in the Metro Detroit Area".

TBA 2008: Dia de Muertos (Dia De Los Muertos) in Mexicantown, Detroit. Celebrate the 9th Annual "Day of the Dead", honoring the lives of the deceased, to remember the dead and loved ones with respect.

TBA November 2008: Holidays on Parade in Detroit. Benefits The Parade Company (Detroit's Thanksgiving Day Parade). "Spend a magical afternoon at the Michigan State Fairgrounds in Detroit. Take part in a fun day for the whole family with face painting, games and prizes, arts and crafts, live entertainment, delicious treats, and rides. Share a visit with the jolly ol' elf himself - Santa! Admission is $5 per person (2 and under are free)."

TBA December 2008: Michigan Christmas Show in Novi. "Beautifully decorated trees, doors hung with magnificent wreaths, holiday music and entertainment, arts and crafts, numerous shops. And, of course, the opportunity for young and old to have their picture taken with Santa while visiting Santa's workshop and play land."
