Santa and the North Pole, Carousel, Ferris Wheel, 1600 feet of real Germen Octoberfest fun with uuthentic beers and treats, Motor City Marketplace and more.
November 19, 2011 (sat): Holiday Magic Parade and Santa Scamper – in Downtown Royal Oak (just north of Detroit), 11am-noon. Annual parade has over 80 parade units featuring floats, marching bands, circus acts and more. Visit Santa after the parade.
November 20-27, 2011 (except Thanksgiving Day): Annual Festival of Trees and Brunch with Santa – at Ford Community & Performing Arts Center in Dearborn, MI (west side of Detroit). Festival of Trees is a public display and sale featuring individually designed 7', 4', 3' trees, wreaths, gingerbread houses, Christmas stockings, a festive gift shop, and more. November 23, 2012 (fri): Annual Grosse Pointe Santa Claus Parade – in Downtown Grosse Pointe. starts at 10am, followed by The Pointe Singers Select Choir in concert, ending with The Village Aglow tree-lighting ceremony.
November 24, 2011 (thu): Detroit's Annual Thanksgiving Day Parade – Official name is America's Thanksgiving Parade and takes place on Woodward Ave in Downtown Detroit. One of the largest Thanksgiving Day Parades in the U.S. with award-winning floats, larger than life balloons, bands, celebrities, papier-maché heads and Santa. televised.
November 25 – December 31, 2011: Christmas Traditions at Edsel & Eleanor Ford House – in Grosse Pointe Shores. Estate will be festively decorated for the season. Enjoy Holiday tours or one of the special holiday events including Christmas Story Time, Candlelit Christmas Evening Tours, Nutcracker Teas. Reservations are required for special events. December 3, 2011 (sat): Annual Noel Night – in Midtown Detroit. 39th in 2011. Free, 5pm-9:30pm in Midtown Detroit's Cultural Center Area. Over 60 institutions, including the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Detroit Science Center, and the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History open their doors to the public free of charge. Activities include horse-drawn carriage rides, holiday shopping, family craft activities and performances by over 120 area music, theatre, and dance groups. The evening's festivities culminate with a community sing-along on Woodward Avenue led by the Salvation Army Band – a long-standing Noel Night tradition.
December 3, 2011 (sat): Orion Area Holiday Lighted Parade – in Lake Orion (north of Detroit). Nighttime parade, starts 6pm. "Floats and vehicles are brightly illuminated with an assortment of Christmas lights. Marching bands blare holiday music. Community groups from the Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, civic organizations, dance studios, local dignitaries and school groups proudly strut down the street and wave to the crowds of onlookers. The parade is capped off by a visit by Santa in his resplendant sleigh, waving to his fans of all ages." held annually on the first saturday in December.

"Bigger and better than ever, this weekend starts at 4 pm, Friday, Dec. 9 with the opening of the Winterfest Market on East Nine Mile featuring a 5-story ferris wheel, a choo choo train, a local green's market and tents filled with local artisans and their holiday decor. On Saturday, Dec. 10 Holiday Ice hits the streets with fantastic Michigan on Ice themed-sculptures by World Champion Carver Tajana Rakaur. The North Pole will be located at Planavon and West Nine Mile where kids can talk to Santa and pose for FREE photos. Also on hand, Santa's reindeer and free hayrides. Holiday Ice sculptures will be viewable Saturday and Sunday."

CHRISTMAS LIGHTING DISPLAYS and HOLIDAY LIGHT SHOWS in Michigan
Wayne County, MI – Wayne County LightFest (just west of Detroit) November 17 to December 31, 2011 (Closed December 25), 7-10pm nightly. the Midwest's longest drive-through holiday light display. $5 per car. Viewers will enter an enchanted world of colorful rainbows, snowflakes, and candy canes. Display begins at Hines Drive and Merriman Road in Westland and proceeds one way and exits onto Warren Avenue near Telegraph Rd in Dearborn Heights. Flint, MI – Christmas at Crossroads Holiday Magic - The entire village is aglow with colored lights and more lights decorate the railroad's locomotive, coaches and trackside displays.
Garden City, MI – Krazy Christmas Lights - Display at our house has almost 50,000 lights which are controlled by 128 computer channels that sync with the music you listen too through your car radio on 90.1fm. No charge for the display but we do have a collection box for those who would like to give to Toys for Tots. New unwrapped gifts accepted through December 18th and on November 28th the US Marines will be at our house to help collect donations.
